Statewide association acknowledges EVMWD’s exceptional communication endeavors

LAKE ELSINORE, CA. — EVMWD (Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District) has recently been acknowledged with two esteemed accolades at the 2023 California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO) Excellence in Public Information Communications Awards, reinforcing their commitment to effective communication and engagement.

The first honor, the award of distinction, commends EVMWD’s innovative Homeowner’s Association engagement program, which focuses on improving outdoor water efficiency for HOA residents. The program, offers valuable assistance through rebates, landscaping workshops, and irrigation evaluations. By empowering HOAs and their residents, EVMWD aims to drive significant water conservation efforts within the community.

In addition, EVMWD received an Award of Distinction for its Backflow Device Theft Prevention program. This initiative successfully educates businesses with safeguarding their backflow devices against theft. By effectively communicating prevention strategies, EVMWD ensures that local businesses can protect their valuable assets.

CAPIO is an organization of public communication professionals across California working to keep the public informed and connected to government. The competition received an unprecedented number of entries this year, highlighting the remarkable achievements of EVMWD among its peers.


EVMWD provides service to more than 155,000 water and wastewater customers in a 97-square-mile area in Western Riverside County.
