Did you know EVMWD is giving our water system a boost? We’re upgrading the waterline under Diamond Drive between Basswood/Hawthorn and Summerly Place. This means:
- More Available Water Supply: Increasing our water distribution pipeline allows us to deliver more water, reducing the chance of service disruptions.
- Improved Water Quality: Upgrading our infrastructure helps us maintain better water quality.
We understand construction can be inconvenient. To minimize disruptions, construction will occur in four phases throughout Diamond Drive. You can see details about each phase below. Construction will take place between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday excluding holidays.
What to Expect
Traffic Detours: During each phase of construction, the northbound lanes of Diamond Lane will be closed. Traffic will be redirected using clearly marked signs and flaggers to ensure safety.
Continuous access: Access to all driveways will remain open at all times. The construction team will ensure residents can enter and exit their properties without any interruptions.
No water service interruptions: Water services will continue as usual throughout the construction period. There will be no interruptions to your water supply.
Safety measures: Construction workers will maintain low speeds through neighborhoods, and the site will have proper safety signage and personnel to guide residents.
Regular updates: EVMWD will provide ongoing updates about the construction phases, expected completion dates and any changes to the schedule on the project website.

Below is the anticipated construction timeline for the project.
Project Updates
Phases 1 and 2 of the Upsize Blending Line at Diamond Project are complete. Phases 3 and 4 of the Project are underway. There will be closures along the northbound lanes of Diamond Drive between Summerly Place and the terminus of Diamond Drive at Hawthorne. Drivers on the northbound lanes will be redirected by detours through the neighborhood to avoid the construction zone. The two southbound lanes on Diamond Drive will remain southbound. As shown in the map below, the school bus stop at the end of Diamond Drive has been temporarily relocated to Sunshine Park located on Village Parkway Loop 0.3 miles northeast of the old stop. When construction is complete, the bus stop will be moved back to the original location on Diamond Drive. For more information on the bus stop relocation, please contact LEUSD.
