The Lee Lake Wells Project involves building the well facilities, installing the well equipment and water treatment systems, and connecting the pipeline to the Temescal Canyon transmission pipeline.
Construction began in February 2024 and is anticipated to be completed in April 2025. To date, the following project milestones have been completed:
- Site Grading: Over excavation, backfilling, and compaction for much of the overall site, excavating and backfilling for the mechanical building wet well, waste tanks 1 and 2, and the infiltration pond.
- Concrete Work: the foundation, backwash tank ring wall foundation, chlorine contact tank ring wall foundation, well 1 foundation pad, and well 2 foundation pad have been completed. The mechanical building foundation is currently in progress.
- Underground Piping: Yard piping and storm drain piping have been installed.
- Waste Tanks: Both waste tanks have been installed and backfilled.
- Storm Drain Catch Basins: Six catch basins have been excavated and installed.
- Mechanical Building: The concrete masonry unit (CMU) block wall has been completed and the trusses are in place.
- Electrical Work: Hand holes have been excavated and installed to access the electrical conduit.
- Electrical Duct Banks: Ten duct banks are complete.
- Well 2: The well 2 extension has been completed.

Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) is taking steps to secure its water supply for the future with the Near Term Water Supply Program. The program is designed to expedite several water supply projects that will ultimately provide a local, sustainable water supply for our growing region.
Project goals:
- Enhance Local Water Supply
- Provide a sustainable, long-term water source to meet the growing demand in the region, reducing reliance on imported water.
- Improve Water Infrastructure
- Construct well facilities and install modern water treatment systems that ensure high-quality water for the community.
- Increase Operational Efficiency
- Connect the new wells to the Temescal Canyon transmission pipeline, optimizing the distribution network for better water delivery.
- Support Regional Growth
- Ensure a secure and reliable water supply to support the region’s economic growth and residential expansion.
- Promote Environmental Stewardship
- Develop local water resources in a way that minimizes environmental impact, ensuring the responsible use of natural resources.
We understand construction can be inconvenient. Work will occur Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. excluding holidays.
What to Expect:
- From October 8 through October 10, (8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.) only one travel lane will be available on Temescal Canyon Road near our project site for utility investigative work.
- Flagman will be directing traffic in each direction.
- Increased truck and/or equipment traffic.
- Please allow extra travel time and use caution when driving through the construction area.
Traffic control: Clearly marked signs and flaggers will help redirect traffic safely.
Safety measures: Construction workers will follow strict protocols, including maintaining low speeds and using proper safety signage and personnel to guide residents.
Regular updates: EVMWD will provide ongoing updates on this webpage, including any changes to the timeline or expected completion dates.
