News Image California Oaks Road Closure Completed Earlier than Anticipated, Thanks to Diligence and Partnerships
In an effort to relieve Murrieta residents from the inconvenience of the road closure, crews from the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD), the City of Murrieta and Regan Paving have wrapped up repairs three days ahead of schedule California Oaks Road in Murrieta.

The collaboration between the City of Murrieta and EVMWD allowed for the water main leak and damage to the road last Wednesday, April 9, to be assessed quickly and a plan prepared and put into action. EVMWD crews began fixing a damaged pipeline last Wednesday and worked into the early morning hours on Thursday to complete the pipeline repairs. The diligent work of the crews provided a smooth and seamless repair to the damaged asphalt that resulted in the project being completed three days ahead of expectations.

"The patience and cooperation of the residents of Murrieta made all the difference," said Andy Morris, president of the EVMWD Board of Directors. "Our staff, city staff and Regan Paving were able to resolve the issue efficiently, with quick thinking, a well thought-out plan and the understanding of the residents who were affected."

News Image Why does my tap water sometimes appear cloudy?
The EVMWD service area is partially served by wells. Pumping water from our local wells can trap tiny air bubbles that temporarily cause water to appear cloudy. While this may impact the water's appearance, it does not affect the water's safety and will not harm household plumbing systems.

News Image Making Drinking Water Quality Even Better
In February 2014, EVMWD will upgrade its drinking water disinfection process in the Temescal Region. Chloramine disinfection will replace the current chlorine disinfection. Both chemicals are safe and effective methods of water disinfection approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). The chloramination process is accomplished by treating water with a compound of ammonia and chlorine, as opposed to the current procedure that uses only chlorine. Even though the chloramination procedure is a more popular and simple method of water disinfection, it may require changes on behalf of some of our customers.
